Kosta’s work is contemplative; it portrays the quiet beauty found in the common, often overlooked, places and moments in life. His art is held in public and private collections in both the United States and Europe. He is currently working on an upcoming book, Lost and Found: The Los Angeles River , which through his paintings documents the unexpected beauty of this forgotten waterway bringing attention to the ecological and social importance of the river and the efforts of the Los Angeles River Revitalization project.
In addition to an online gallery for Kosta's work, John Kosta Fine Art provides a useful resource for art & culture enthusiasts — a place to explore and discover events and activities that create thoughtful conversation and positive change in the world. ARTalk is a curated journal with a focus on California, where the artist lives, however, we regularly include content from around the globe. This month we spotlight Documenta 15, the renowned contemporary fine art exhibition held every five years in Kassle Germany featuring a select group of artists leading the way in today's world of modern art. Secondly we feature an article by National Geographic about efforts to bring back endangered trout to the channelized Los Angeles River. Enjoy!
